A few of my favorite things: vol 2

Welcome to volume 2 of “A Few of My Favorite Things”, a blog post series of a few… of my.. you guessed it.. favorite things! As in many things in life, we come across new ones, replace old ones, hang on to some, and pass on others. Keep that in mind when it comes to these things!

OUR PLACE ALWAYS PAN

I’ve had my eyes on the Always Pan for a while! Some of you might recognize the brand because I included their plates and bowls in my holiday gift guide. At the time, I was just moving into my new place and needed plates and it was the perfect gift. They’re still my favorite plates and bowls to use! This April, on my 30th birthday, my incredible boss, who knew I’d been eying this - gifted me the pan! I quite literally * always * use it. It’s impressively versatile. It’s deep enough to make stews or cream-based foods, but also flat enough to make my eggs or crab cakes. And the cleaning process is just * chefs kiss *. It cleans SO easily and nothing sticks to it at all. And lastly, it comes with a steamer. You guys know I love dumplings and life has just been easier with this in my life. Pictured here I’m making the beef and broccoli from Trader Joe’s, admittedly, not their best frozen food option but definitely one I enjoy.

PIRANI TUMBLER

I got these tumblers as party favors for my birthday, initially we were going to be on a boat and I wanted something that would keep our drinks cold and something that was not plastic or glass, and then I came across Pirani. I’d be lying if I said that I live a completely sustainable life but I do aim to purchase products that are sustainable and that do their part to give back to the earth (I want to preface by saying that I SHOULD be doing more and I am actively trying to add these things into my lifestyle) Pirani is just that. The brand is actually from south Florida, which is cool for a native like me, and their aim is to reduce single-use plastic. We see it so often here in Florida, our lakes, oceans, and rivers are filled with trash and litter, and these tumblers are an alternative to plastic that also just.. works.

NICOLE CROWDER MEDITATION PILLOWS

DSC08630.JPG

I absolutely love Nicole Crowder’s work. I have an intense admiration for people who have the ability to blend and mix patterns - something I’m terrible at but so wish I was better at. Some people just have an eye for patterns, they know how they work. It’s vision. Beyond patterns though, her work is lovely. She creates meditation pillows for others because as she explains, meditation has become a been a big part of her life, and creating these are part of it. I’ve always wanted to meditate and never stuck to it. But, give me a nice designed gift to aid me in getting it done and you got me motivated! And I truly feel these pillows have helped (that and putting on sound bowls on YouTube!) Something about the position it sits you in is truly comfortable and makes me centered. I think the designs are gorgeous and I love how they look in my apartment, and it also makes me excited to use them and meditate. I’ve been incorporating meditation into my weekly routines and it’s something I plan to continue doing. If I’m ever in DC, best believe I’m getting myself a Nicole Crowder designed chair.

DUVETS

This is really all do to one of my favorite people on Twitter, AsiaChloeBrown, who spoke on the topics of using a duvet cover. It just made so much sense and it made me wonder why i didn’t use duvets sooner. Its so much cleaner, they take up less space, and you can change the vibe of your space much easier. I wish I had better images, and maybe I will once I have art work over my bed to get a better shot. I got both of these from Macy’s and what I love is that they’re different in design and how they feel. Both have unique textures and its nice to switch it up. I really love the idea of having duvets over multiple bulky comforters and again, just feels much cleaner.
